Apple or Fruit Crisp

This is my favorite fruit crisp recipe. I especially like the oatmeal in it.  Adding berries gives it a little color and jazzes the flavor.
Topping:
¾ C flour                                              Fruit Mixture:
¾ C oatmeal                                          4 C sliced fruit (apples, peaches, pears, berries)
½ C brown sugar
1 t cinnamon                                         ½ C sugar, adjust as needed
¼ t nutmeg                                           1 T flour
¼ t baking powder                                1 t cinnamon
½ C softened butter

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Combine dry ingredients for the topping.  Cut in the butter into the mixture until crumbly or melt butter and mix in.  Set aside.

Mix together sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl.   Add selected fruit and mix to coat.   Pour into a greased 8-9” square baking dish.  Spread topping over fruit.

Bake for 10 minutes, then turn heat down to 350 and bake 30 minutes more.

Delicious served warm with ice cream or cool whip.
